Japanese Relief Resources

The employees of Exelis Visual Information Solutions are saddened by the recent catastrophic events in Japan. We hope that our experience in image science and our knowledge of the community can help as relief workers around the world begin assessing the damage in Japan and helping that community rebuild.

We have assembled a list of resources we think will be helpful if you are interested in using geospatial imagery to assist with tsunami and earthquake response efforts in Japan. These resources will help you use satellite imagery to extract useful information about the affected areas.

Processed Imagery Products with Results

View example of processed Japanese imagery to see the extent of inland flooding, road network destruction, building destruction, and agricultural destruction. These images were processed using the image classification, change detection, and thematic change detection capabilities of ENVI. This type of image processing can help emergency responders target specific areas and situations for their relief work.
