Some of the IDL 8.0/8.1 product documentation exists only in PDF files in the IDL installation

A portion of IDL 8.0 and IDL 8.1 product documentation is available only in PDF files that are installed in the "help/pdf" subdirectory in the product directory tree. This directory is located in the following default locations for various platforms:

Operating System	Default Directory with IDL PDF Help Files
Windows	C:\Program Files\ITT\IDL\[IDL80 -or- IDL 81]\help\pdf\
Linux	/usr/local/itt/idl/[idl80 -or- idl81]/help/pdf/
Mac OS X	/Applications/itt/idl/[idl80 -or- idl81]/help/pdf/
Solaris	/usr/local/itt/idl/[idl80 -or- idl81]/help/pdf/

Please note that the some of the PDF documentation provided with IDL 8.0 or IDL 8.1 may not be updated with information for that version of IDL. Much of the PDF documentation will be transitioned into the IDL online help system in future versions of IDL.
