Solutions for image processing & data visualization
July 2009

Welcome

Welcome to the summer issue of Developments Newsletter. I’ve been given the opportunity in this month’s issue to let you know about some of the exciting product development activities currently happening at ITT Visual Information Solutions. We are currently executing a very healthy and challenging product roadmap for IDL and ENVI. While we are always working to push technologies to the fullest, we are constantly conscious of doing so in ways that deliver value to new and existing users of our products. Given the limits of this newsletter format, I thought I’d focus on highest value projects we are working on in 2009.

Letter from Kirk Benell,

ENVI EX

IDL and ENVI News & Updates

ENVI EX Coming Soon!

Unlock the information in your imagery quickly and easily.
We are excited to announce the upcoming release of a new addition to the ENVI product line called ENVI EX.  ENVI EX will offer functionality specifically designed for GIS users, and will feature step-by-step workflows to walk users through the processes of:

  • Extracting features of interest
  • Detecting change in an area over time
  • Classifying or grouping various types of  land cover
  • Detecting anomalies, or features that differ from others in the image
  • Performing single scene orthorectification of images

Visit the ENVI EX page on our website to learn more.

ENVI 4.7 Coming Soon!

Fully integrated workflows to streamline image processing.
Now, ENVI 4.7 delivers the next level of workflow innovation by introducing powerful new integration between ENVI and ArcGIS. This release allows you to easily drag and drop files from ArcGIS to ENVI, to display vector layers with your imagery with consistent styling and symbology, and to easily output results as map products. In addition, ENVI 4.7 includes support for more file formats, continuing a longstanding ENVI tradition of helping you get information from the newest imagery and data types as they become available.

With ENVI 4.7 you’ll be able to:

  • Open and process more kinds of imagery and data like Landsat Geotiff MTL files, COSMO-SkyMed data, ERDAS Imagine® files, and more.
  • Drag and drop files and data easily between Arc and ENVI
  • Mange vector layers from within ENVI
  • Edit features in an image with new feature editing tools
  • Generate a map that maintains georeferencing information
  • Chip to print, PowerPoint, or a new file

Visit the ENVI 4.7 page on our website to learn more.
